Health
Health Hawke's Bay
Health Hawke’s Bay is a not-for-profit, charitable primary health organisation that brings together health professionals and the community to coordinate and deliver health services for the population of Napier, Hastings,Central Hawke's Bay and Wairoa.
Health Hawke’s Bay receives a set amount of funding from the Government to subsidise a range of health services.
The funding is based on a number of characteristics (eg: age, sex, ethnicity) of people enrolled with the PHO and will pay for services to:
provide care and treatment when people are ill
help people to stay healthy
reach out to those groups in their community who have poor health or who are missing out on the primary health care
Health Hawke’s Bay Goals
Population Health:to improve the health and wellbeing of our people
Improving Health Outcomes for Maori, Pacific and high need people:Addressing inequalities through the continued development of strategies and health services, creating change where disparity exists.
Capability and Capacity:To value and develop a primary healthcare workforce that is aligned to the needs of our people and is representative of the people we serve.
Sustainability for Our People: Ensuring quality healthcare services through business excellence and collaboration with funders, providers and the community
Why would I want to enrol with the Hawkes Bay PHO?
Depending on your personal circumstances (for example your age or your medical condition) you can access cheaper doctors' visits and pharmacy prescriptions. Being enrolled with the Health Hawke’s Bay means that additional funding is available to your family medical centre.
If you live in the area and have visited your usual General Practitioner in the last 3 years, it is likely that you have been asked to enrol with Health Hawkes Bay.
Enrolment takes places at your usual family medical centre - the staff there will talk with you about enrolment, what is involved and what it means for you and your family. They will ask you to sign the enrolment form.
You can only enrol with one medical centre. If you choose to visit another medical centre you will not be eligible to receive cheaper fees and this will also result in your medical centre incurring a charge for that visit.

Sport Hawke's Bay is one of 17 such trusts, which together make up the Sportnet Group. Our major focus is to increase participation in sport and active recreation pursuits by the people of Hawkes Bay. Often this is by improving the delivery structures which make sport and active recreation happen and the Trust's mission statement, "leading the development of sport and active recreation in Hawke's Bay" reflects this. With increased participation comes the desirable by-product of a healthy, active community with improved social harmony and total community wellbeing adding to a strong regional economy.
Our team of sports professionals is dedicated to this task through training, publicity, advocacy and education. We cannot do it all ourselves but we can train, educate and advocate to others in order to provide the tools, to deliver for their own organisations.
