Sport Hawkes Bay's mission is "Leading the development of Sport and Active Recreation in Hawkes Bay". "Active Living" is a section of Sport Hawke's Bay which has a focus of " assisting people to become more active more often". Programmes provided can include Green Prescription, Falls Prevention, Kiwi Seniors, Walking, Cycling and Workfit. Tai chi, aqua jogging, aqua aerobics, line dancing, badminton, Sit and Be Fit, gentle exercise to music, are just a few of the activities offered.
Sport Hawke's Bay is your local Regional Sports Trust, a charitable trust established in 1989 to assist the development of sport and active recreation organisations and structures in the region.
Sport Hawke's Bay is one of 17 such trusts, which together make up the Sportnet Group. Our major focus is to increase participation in sport and active recreation pursuits by the people of Hawkes Bay. Often this is by improving the delivery structures which make sport and active recreation happen and the Trust's mission statement, "leading the development of sport and active recreation in Hawke's Bay" reflects this. With increased participation comes the desirable by-product of a healthy, active community with improved social harmony and total community wellbeing adding to a strong regional economy.
Our team of sports professionals is dedicated to this task through training, publicity, advocacy and education. We cannot do it all ourselves but we can train, educate and advocate to others in order to provide the tools, to deliver for their own organisations.
