Habitat for Humanity is an International Christian not-for-profit organization that works in partnership with people of good will and families in need, to eliminate inadequate housing by building and/or renovating and selling simple, decent homes that have affordable repayments to selected families who cannot secure a loan or mortgage by normal means.
The organisation was founded in the USA in 1976, Habitat for Humanity New Zealand was established in 1992, and the Hawke’s Bay affiliate began operating in 1996 and has recently amalgamated with Waikato and Gisborne to form the new Habitat for Humanity Central North Island affiliate.
Caring for Carers East Coast
This is a support service for unpaid family carers who provide care for an adult or child in their family with a serious illness, learning disorder or disability.
The service includes:
- Monthly get togethers in Hastings and Taradale
- Carers pamper day
- Quarterly newsletters to carers
- A website
We are committed to supporting unpaid family carers with free information and group support.
